A relatively recent tradition in chronological perspective is the annual production of a CSA Prints and Drawings Calendar. Publishing an annual calendar to display the unique talents of CSA members was originally conceived by Clara MacGowan, Art Professor at Northwestern University. The first Chicago Society of Artists calendar began as a series of block prints published in 1937.
Today, the CSA calendar has evolved under the leadership of Catherine Cajandig to include not only hand cut block prints, but also drawings, photographs, and computer generated prints. The calendar is actually a portable gallery that portrays a unique art work every week of the year created by a CSA member.
